Yesterday was a beautiful late June day. It was in the mid 70's and there was almost no humidity so we packed up and headed to the Brookfield Zoo. We go several times a year and make good use of our family membership. We weren't the only ones to think it was a perfect day to go to the zoo either. It was packed with summer camp groups, families and lots and lots of 17 year cicadas. The cicadas luckily haven't made it to the town in which we live and for that I am grateful. I got attacked by one as we walked through the woods surrounding the wolf enclosure. While I don't mind to pick one up, I like to do it when I want to and I don't appreciate when they get tangled in my mass of curls. This is a picture I took of Colin looking at one of the lions that are right inside of the South Gate. He always wants his picture taken with one of them. Aren't the flowers behind the statue just gorgeous? The zoo was in full bloom everywhere we looked yesterday.
This is a picture I got of Evan as we were walking to a picnic area. One thing is for certain. We pack, we travel to the zoo, we get there to have the kids pictures taken with the lions and then we eat our picnic lunch. I laugh that the first thing the kids always want to do when we get to the zoo is eat. But since we know that is the way it goes we are fine with it. I love this picture of Evan. He looks so deep in thought. People keep bugging me to get his hair cut, but I'm waiting until his 2nd birthday. That is when Colin got his first haircut so Evan can wait a couple more months too. I can't believe my baby is going to be 20 months old in just 2 short weeks.
This is one of my favorite pictures of the boys together. They decided to be nice and actually walk nicely together hand in hand. Trust me when I say it didn't last long.
Today we spent the day stripping wallpaper border in Colin's bedroom. His room is in need of a repainting job. When he was 18 months old, he decided to chew on the drywall surrounding his windows and even though we patched it up, it still needs to be painted again. He has also drawns some nice crayon pictures on his wall. Needless to day I didn't get any stamping done yesterday or today.
