The Mid Winter Blues

We woke up to 3 more inches of snow today. Our backyard is never going to melt and my dog continues to drag her belly through the snow and cause an avalanche to cascade onto my kitchen floor everytime she returns from the vast white wasteland that lurks outside the door.
Finally we all seem to be feeling better and I was able to sit down and stamp today. I completed another sketch challenge at SCS and I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull this one off. There aren't many layers at all and I thought it would be too bare, but I am happy with the results.
I am not sure which card I like more, the one with ribbon or the brads, but I'm leaning toward the brads. Both cards use Bashful blue, Confetti white and Certainly celery cardstock. The stamp set is one of my favorite new ones called Doodle This. I can't wait to be able to use it in workshops and classes.
I stamped the flower image on with Jet Black Stazon and then used my AquaPainter to color the image in with Bashful Blue and So Saffron. I then smudged some Bashful blue ink onto the cardstock with a sponge.
I cut the tabs out with my Round Tab Punch and on one card I tied Ivory Grosgrain ribbon around the top layer. On the other I used my 1/16 hole punch and vintage brads.
I am just happy to be stamping again!

Think Pink

I had to find a way to get some use out of this great giraffe and I promised to make a girl version of yesterday's card. However, when I sat down to do it I had to come up with something different. It almost feels like spring with this color scheme, and we need that after getting snowed in today. School was cancelled, the mall wasn't opened and Roger came home from work at noon. So I had to get a start on my 2nd batch of cards for my swap.

So today I was looking around at SCS and found this simple yet gorgeous card by JennyAlia, so I modified it to suit my needs and I think it turned out fairly well. It's just too bad I don't know anyone having a girl, or if I do, I can't think of them off the top of my head as I sit in my ice encased snow swept home. I was planning on using the same colors that Rachaeljl used on her giraffe, but I switched it at the last minute. Thanks for the inspiration ladies!

I used Naturals White, Sage Shadow and my favorite combination of Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink for my cardstock. I used Jet Black Stazon, So Saffron, Sage Shadow and Pretty in Pink for the ink colors and I used my AquaPainter to watercolor in my giraffe. I think he is so cute, but maybe I should say she because it is a girly card. I love the Round Tab Punch and I have used it on almost every card since I bought it. There are also Vintage brads on the card and I did use my 1/16 hole punch. The stamp sets are from Stampin' Up! and are Bundle of Joy and Just So Sayings.

Maybe I'll get a lot more done tomorrow since we may still be snowed in. Stay safe and warm!

Boy oh Boy!

I sat down and had a chance to work on one of my swaps today and I took place in a sketch challenge at SCS. This is my end product and I am in love with it.

I normally stay in the straight lines, clean paper kind of box, but I am always admiring the "grundgy' looking cards wishing that mine looked as good. So today I decided to step out of my comfort zone and as a result I have very inky fingers and a card I am very proud of.

I used Bundle of Joy and Just So Sayings that will be coming out in March for this card. They are both exclusively from Stampin' Up and if you'd like to know more you can visit my Demonstrator Website. The cardstock is Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Bordering Blue, Certainly Celery and Naturals White. I used the same ink colors with the addtion of Pretty in Pink to color in the bears cheeks. I used my new Round Tab punch for the Boy oh Boy tab and anchored it on with a Vintage Brad. I also used Black Gingham ribbon and glued it on with a mini glue dot. My AquaPainter was used to watercolor in the bear and then I used a sponge to give it a dirty look. My bone folder was perfect for roughing up the edges and I also used my 1/16 hold punch to put the brad on.

This is going to be one of my favorite sets for sure! I feel a March project coming on.

You Make Me Happy

I did not think I had ordered this stamp set and I am very excited that I did. I have seen so many cute samples with it and while I had a chance to actually sit down and stamp yesterday I decided to pull it out. I thought that the first set I'd ink up with be the Doodle This, but I was wrong.
This is the You Make Me Happy stamp set that is part of the new Spring Mini that starts March 1st. The new catalog can't start soon enough in my mind.
I used Barely Banana, Certainly Celery, Rose Red and Basic Black cardstock. The ink colors are Certainly Celery, Mellow moss, Rose Red, Bordering Blue and Whisper White. I also used the Tag Corner Punch, Black hemp twine and Stampin' Dimensionals to pop the tag up off of the page.
Well it's time to pack the car and head out. I love class days!

Pocket Notes

There is nothing like waiting until the very last minute to figure out a project, and that is exactly how this one turned out. I have just been feeling awful lately and my kids always need me when I am stamping.

So I had to look elsewhere for inspiration. My first pocket note comes directly from an idea I got at Stampin' Up. This particular pocket note was featured on the Demonstrator part of the website and was used to make a full sized card. But since I am using these to stuff my mailboxes I kept it at the small size of the Pocket note. This has been one of my favorite sets from the Winter Mini and I have used it at every workshop and class since I've had it. I have also sold at least 2 sets of Like It A Latte at every event. I used the Chocolate Chip Pocket Note along with Certainly Celery and Whisper White Cardstock. I stamped the words with Whisper White Craft ink and the hearts with Regal Rose.

My second Pocket note was inspired by JanTink at SCS, and author of her own blog Stamps, Paper, Scissors. I used a Very Vanilla Pocket Note, Buckaroo Blue, Regal Rose, Loves Me Designer paper and Very Vanilla cardstock. I also used Buckaroo Blue and Regal Rose ink with Sweet On You stamp set. I love these little stamps. The words were stamped on using Very Punny. We had fun using this set to make our Valentine's Day Mommy and Me projects today as well. You can see my class schedule on my Stampin' Up Demonstrator website.

My last pocket note was inspired by stampinatad, who is also a member at Splitcoast. When I saw her version of the Pretty In Pink pocket notes I knew I had to try it out for myself. I used the Loves Me Desiner Paper as well as Regal Rose and Natural White cardstock. I stamped the pig from Very Punny in Basic black classic ink and then colored him in with Regal Rose ink.

I want to thank everyone for inspiring me to make my own version of these cards. Without all of my inspiration I'd still be at square 1.

Mommy and Me Valentine's Project

Tomorrow I am having my first ever Mommy and Me Valentine's class. This is the project we will be making. I thin it is simple yet sweet. It is a box of Sweethearts wrapped up in Real Red cardstock along with Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise cardstocks. The stamp set is Sweet on You and is from Stampin' Up! Everything was stamped in Real Red classic ink and then the box is held inside and pulled up with Grosgrain Ribbon.

Each child will be able to make 2 boxes. I have everything pre-scored and cut out for an easy project. I'm hoping it goes well because I have another project planned for the month of March and I have people RSVPing for that one already.
Tonight I have to get my Pocket Notes ready for my class on Sunday. Then I will be able to play with all of my new stamp sets from the Spring Mini! I spent a lot of last night and this afternoon cutting out all of my new wonderful stamps. I am so excited for March 1st. Not only is it my birthday but it is the day I can begin to start demonstrating the new stamp sets. I have 3 classes in the works for March so I have to get a head start on planning them.
I think I have been suffering from my first migrane ever. I have done a little research on why the top of my head is pounding only on the left side and my scalp actually hurts from it. My allergies have been really bad and they could have triggered this headache. I only know that I can't wait for the 3 day weekend to start so that I can begin to relax. RELAX? That never happens. LOL! At least I can function at a slower pace.

In a perfect world . . .

I'd have a new project posted everyday and real life would be a piec e of cake. I don't know about where you live, but in the last week Illinois has turned into a frozen tundra as a Siberian cold front has moved across the North Pole, down through Canada and into the states. With that change in weather all I want to do is curl up on my sofa with a nice cup of hot cocoa, a great book and afghan and escape from reality.
My reality is that I have 2 young children, various activities we are involved in and I am in the middle of helping open a new Paint Shop Pro forum starting on Monday. Therefore my stamping has been few and far between and I really haven't accomplished very much in any area of my life.
But today is your lucky day! I have finished the outside of one of my mailboxes that I was supposed to be having a class on tomorrow. Instead I'll be attending a Superbowl party and hopefully WOWing people with my scrapbooking ways. *Note to self - don't schedule classes on Superbowl Sunday * I do have a class for the same mailboxes next Sunday so it is not a total waste of time. I didn't want the outside to be too complicated so I wrapped it with Regal Rose cardstock and a strip of Loves Me Double Sided Designer Paper. I used Sweet on You, Riveting and Like It A Latte stamp sets with Regal Rose and Pretty in Pink classic inks. To finish it off I used some Red Gingham, Ivory Grosgrain and Rose Grosgrain ribbons. I think it is cute and sweet. Now to only get started on the cards to stuff into it.
Today is going to be my lucky day too! *thing positive hehehehe* I entered a raffle to win a 50 inch flat screen LCD tv just in time for the Superbowl. It is part of the fundraiser I am attending tonight for my son's school. They only sold 100 tickets so I have a 1 in 100 chance of winning. Not bad at all!
Have a great weekend and may the Chicago Bears win the Superbowl!
